It is often asked, "Don't cats groom themselves"?

  • Cats use their tongues, which have tiny barbs, to lick and micro-comb their fur, removing loose hair, dander, and dirt.
  • However, cats can only reach certain areas and may miss mats or tangles, and excessive or insufficient grooming can indicate health problems

When and Why a professional is necessary

 

  • Grooming sessions reduce stress and anxiety in cats by increasing bonding and oxytocin levels
  • Grooming helps detect parasites, lumps, or skin issues early, which cats might not address themselves.
  • It helps keep allergic dander under control in the home environment
  • It reduces shedding and hairballs by removing loose fur before cats ingest it during self-grooming

It is important to note that the relationship I build with my wild felines is not one I take for granted. Never forget that felines choose who they will interact with and who is simply not worth their time. Very little has changed in the evolution of the Felis catus.

Cats that are matted all over requiring a shave down to the skin are priced on an individual basis. Factors such as temperament, time taken and overall condition of cat are to be considered when given a price. Please understand that this is not an assessment that can be done over the phone.

Every service listed comes with ear cleaning and nail clipping. The health and well-being of your cat is first and foremost and must come before aesthetics!

Please tell me of any health conditions your cat may have.

At any time during the grooming session the cat begins showing signs of being overly stressed I will give the cat a break. After the break if I feel that the behavior is concerning, I will stop and call you.

Frequently asked questions

What should I bring to my pet's grooming session?

Please bring your pet's vaccination records and any special shampoos or treatments if required.

  • An up-to-date Rabies vaccine is a must.

How often should my pet be groomed?
  • Grooming: It depends on the breed and coat type, but generally, every 4-8 weeks is recommended. Our typical average is every 6 weeks. Your pet's lifestyle will also be a determining factor in the frequency of grooming, e.g., couch potato or active pup.
  • Bathing: As with grooming the breed, coat type, and condition of coat as well as lifestyle matters when it comes to frequency of bathing. Every 4-5 weeks is recommended due to the life cycle of skin cell generation.

Can I stay with my pet during the grooming session?

For safety reasons, for both your fur baby, as well as our staff, we prefer owners not to stay in the grooming area, but you are welcome to sit on the comfy couch in our front showroom.

-(Please be aware though, if your pet hears or sees you they will become very difficult to groom, and it could potentially cause us to have to end the groom early, due to safety concerns).
